Introduction

The seminar, "Civics Engagement", taught by Mrs. Dechant and Mr. Ropella
incorporated history, government and business. We looked at how businesses
are connected with the community and how the community can be a huge factor
for why businesses change.

The Body Shop

The classes divided into groups and each group got assigned a part of history or a
business. My group consisted of Kirsten Rich, Kristin Jennings, Stephen Rovick,
and myself. We dug into the history of The Body Shop and visited The Body Shop
located in the Fox River Mall. While there, we interviewed the acting manager, Katy,
about special promotions they might do and their products. We gathered together
different information about The Body Shop's history and how The Body Shop incorporate
different marketing concepts into their business. Together, we made a presentation
about The Body Shop completed with a music video and Katy giving makeovers. The
21st century skills we developed with this group project was teamwork, the ability to get
work done, leadership, and being proactive.
